Project objectives
The project focuses on the improvement and protection of the Pond Bat’s (Myotis dasycneme) hibernation sites:
1. Improvement of protection management
•Secure the most important hibernation sites of Pond Bat from uncontrolled visits.
•Stop degradation of habitats caused by low temperatures, draught and collapsing.
•Improve protection of the Pond Bat by making policy recommendations for the management plan of the species and protected areas where it occurs.
2. Awareness rising
•Involve volunteers, private companies, and local communities in cleaning the caves and surroundings, especially swarming areas.
•Raise public awareness of bat populations by using the innovative approach with high-resolution bat cameras and attractive exhibitions.
•Present project results and share spread and gain knowledge regarding habitat requirements and ecology of Pond Bat.
